England’s tour to South Africa remains green-lit by the country’s sports ministry, even as the minister, Nathi Mthethwa, is closer to intervening in the game’s governing body.A highly-placed source told ESPNcricinfo that the six-match white-ball series, which is scheduled to start on November 27, will be played “for the sake of the players and the cricket-loving public,” but that does not mean Cricket South Africa is off the hook. Instead, there remains a strong chance of Mthethwa using the National Sports and Recreation Act to step in at CSA (which could include withdrawing funding and stripping them of their status as a nationally representative body) if the members’ council does not recognise the interim board. They are also due to host Sri Lanka, Australia and Pakistan and could travel to Pakistan in the 2020-21 season, and it’s those fixtures that may be under threat if the members’ council does not comply with the sports minister.Mthethwa was forced to turn his attention to CSA after months of administrative issues which came to a head when the organisation refused to comply with instructions from the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC), who asked for the board and executive to step aside while SASCOC conducted an inquiry into CSA’s affairs. SASCOC, which is a legislatively created umbrella body under whom all South Africa’s sports federations operate, then referred the matter to the ministry.The CSA board has since stood down but the members’ council, a body made up of the 14 provincial affiliate presidents, remain in place and have refused to recognise a nine-member interim board which Mthethwa was at the helm of convening. Instead, the members’ council believe they are in charge of the game. CSA are in a state of crisis, with financial losses looming, important negotiations over their new broadcast deal on the horizon and they are still operating under an acting CEO. The interventions by SASCOC and now Mthethwa are aimed at stabilising the organisation.

Only managing a pitiful 17 touches of the ball, Mara would just stroll around the pitch like a passenger for large spells of the game before Martin gambled and hauled off the poor 21-year-old for a returning Ross Stewart.
Stewart's brief but impactful cameo could well mean he's in for a shout to start the second leg over Mara, managing to fire an on-target effort – bettering Mara from just 18 minutes of action – that nearly crept in if it wasn't for the instinctive leg of Palmer intervening.
Even with Stewart troubling the West Brom defence late on, his long-standing injury issues might put Martin off throwing him in from the get-go in such a big clash.
Yet, Martin might well chuck Che Adams into the deep end regardless for this second leg – with the Scotland international having injury concerns of his own – hoping he can be the difference-maker between his team exiting the playoffs and going to Wembley.

Whether Michael Neser ever earns the Test cap that he surely deserves will probably be less about what he does and more about whether injuries or loss of form afflict those ahead of him. However, he can’t do much more than the last three days against Tasmania, where he followed his 5 for 32 with a maiden first-class century as Queensland pushed for victory.It was the first time since Mitchell Johnson in 2010 that a Sheffield Shield player had taken a five-wicket haul and score a hundred in the same game – and extraordinarily it would be followed an hour later by Ashton Agar in the game on the next-door ground.Neser was first included in a Test squad for the trip to the UAE to face Pakistan in 2018 then was part of the 2019 Ashes party before being ever-present in squads last summer against Pakistan and New Zealand yet he still waits for that debut with Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and James Pattinson in the incumbents.If that changes this summer against India remains to be seen, but more performances like this will provide food for thought for the selectors – and not just for his strongest suit with the ball. A first-class batting average of 24 with 11 fifties (and a List A high score of 122 off 81 balls in 2017) before today showed that he was more than useful – he has a technique and the time to play the ball comparable with top-order players – his century against Tasmania was an innings full of command and control.Neser’s innings started in the final over of the second day and he was soon into his stride on the third morning before Jimmy Peirson became the dominant partner in a seventh-wicket stand of 86 which knocked the stuffing out of Tasmania before ending when Piersen was caught low down in the gully.Mark Steketee (23) provided good support in a stand of 58 but when Neser was joined by No. 11 Mitchell Swepson he was on 88. The goals didn't dry up after that, however, with Musaba becoming a hero immortalised into the Owls hall-of-fame for forever now with his efforts in recent weeks ensuring his side dramatically stayed up after looking like relegation goners when managed by the clueless Munoz.
Musaba was instrumental in big wins being picked up from tense contests to edge the Owls closer to their goal of Championship survival, scoring late on – against QPR again in April – to pick up a 2-0 win at Loftus Road, before helping himself to two assists later that month against relegation rivals Blackburn Rovers on the road to secure a fantastic 3-1 victory.
But, his strike against West Bromwich Albion during the penultimate game of the gruelling second-tier season saw journalists such as Joe Crann shower the electric Dutchman with some much-deserved praise who, in his words, was absolutely "fantastic" in a polished 3-0 win over Carlos Corberan's tricky side.
These huge results meant the final day away at Sunderland wasn't really that nervy or on a knife's edge from a Wednesday point of view, with Musaba and Co confidently strutting their stuff in a 2-0 win to register a third straight three points to stay put in the Championship.
If Rohl is to stay put for next season, with the rumour mill at Hillsborough making supporters anxious about his immediate future in the dug-out knowing what occurred with Darren Moore, the side for next season will no doubt be built around talents such as the breakout 23-year-old to kick on and achieve more after keeping their heads above water.
Musaba's transfer value has understandably gone up since walking into the building as a relative unknown prospect from France last summer, with the tantalising attacker now worth more than fellow Wednesday hero Barry Bannan according to Football Transfers.

Bannan, who has been a dependable servant for the Owls over a remarkable 402 games now, has seen his value decline slightly after playing a lesser role in Wednesday's success story this time around with his worth now standing at £942k.
Still, the ageing 34-year-old would come up trumps at the Stadium of Light when needed by assisting Liam Palmer's opener for 1-0 and looks likely to be signing a new contract very soon to remain at Hillsborough right up until his retirement date.
Musaba doesn't have to think about the impending end of his career anytime soon, with the 23-year-old having the potential to bump up his transfer value even more if he stars in the Championship next campaign again.

Wednesday supporters will just have to hope Rohl is convinced to stay on in South Yorkshire amidst all the interest in his services from other clubs trying to persuade him to move on, alongside the fact there could well be a summer of upheaval on the horizon with the likes of Ugbo returning to Troyes and a number of out-of-contract figures leaving.

Notts Outlaws medium-pacer Harry Gurney has been ruled out of the Vitality Blast as well as the IPL owing to a shoulder injury. Gurney, who was picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, is scheduled to undergo an operation next month.
