Popular West Ham United insider ExWHUEmployee has delivered a deadline day update on the Hammers' move for PSG and Spain midfielder Carlos Soler, after a deal was agreed on Friday morning.
Carlos Soler to West Ham latest
The Irons, led by Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten, have been one of the busiest clubs in the Premier League this summer, bringing in nine new faces. There has been a mixture of young talent, like Mohamadou Kanté, along with experienced stars such as Max Kilman, who has already shown his worth with a Man of the Match display in the victory at Crystal Palace last weekend.
Max Kilman West Ham graphic
Now they are closing in on likely their final capture of the summer, as reports revealed on Friday Soler will join the East Londoners on loan with a buy option for the end of the season worth roughly £17m. The Hammers will cover the Spain international's £107,000-a-week salary, and Ex has now provided an update on the transfer as fans grow impatient for updates on the deal.
It now seems only a matter of time before the 27 year-old attacking midfielder, once holding a stunning release clause of £140million during his time with Valencia, is holding up the claret and blue.
How good is Carlos Soler?
It's fair to say the Spanish playmaker has struggled to find his feet at PSG, only starting 12 matches in Ligue 1 last season to go with 14 the year before, and just five goals and four assists came his way across those appearances along with a smattering of cameos off the bench.
However, his per 90 statistics actually paint the picture of an elite pass-master who, along with the likes of Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen, could unlock top flight defences for fun.

The former Valencia prodigy, who was back then likened to Arsenal fan favourite Santi Cazorla and Manchester City legend David Silva, ranks extremely highly for chance and shot creation, and the fact he is superior at progressing the ball versus simple pass completion suggests he is not afraid to take risks, something fans at the London Stadium have been crying out for after their football grew stale at times under David Moyes.

“We know they’re going to come out firing; we’re extremely mindful of that as well” – Dean Elgar on what he expects from India•Associated Press
South Africa captain Dean Elgar believes his side holds the edge in the upcoming three Tests against India by dint of playing on home conditions, even though they are “wary” of how well India have fared in overseas conditions recently to be the No. 1-ranked Test team in the world.”I think it’s pretty even-stevens. Us playing at home, obviously, gives us a little bit of an upper hand,” Elgar said two days out from the Boxing Day Test in Centurion. “They are ranked No. 1 in the world; we can’t not look at that. That’s something they have been for quite some time, in my opinion – just my being a cricket watcher and a cricket fan.”You can’t not give them the credit for what they have done over the last while. So, I am not going to sit here and say they are not the best side in the world because there’s a ranking system for a reason. But the mere fact that we’re playing in our backyard gives us still the upper hand going into the series.”Related

KL Rahul hints India may stick to five-bowler strategy
India’s 2-1 Test series victory on Australian shores earlier this year was key to propelling them into the inaugural World Test Championship final, where they finished runners-up to New Zealand. Hot on the heels of the title clash came the assignment against hosts England, which India dictated with a 2-1 scoreline before concerns around Covid-19 reduced the five-match Test assignment to four, with the fifth fixture postponed until 2022.On both tours India’s bowling attack, their pace contingent in particular, underpinned the majority of their dominance. With them expected to stick to their five-bowler make-up in South Africa, Elgar admitted the visitors’ attack posed the home team the most potent challenge in conditions typically conducive to speed, movement, and carry.”Their strength at the moment lies in their bowling,” Elgar said. “We are extremely aware of that as well. They’ve had a lot of successes as a bowling unit. They’ve got a lot of older spearhead bowlers that lead the attack and have got a good back-up set of bowlers as well.”And being in South Africa, I’m pretty sure their bowling attack will exploit the conditions reasonably well. Just knowing that we have our seamers and we’ve got a little bit of pace and bounce and the wickets may be do a little bit more in South Africa than it does anywhere else around the world.”Despite their triumphant showings in overseas conditions in the recent past, with their resurgence in the longest format having its roots in their victory in Johannesburg four years ago in a 1-2 loss to South Africa, that India are yet to clinch a Test series in the country could, Elgar said, enthuse Virat Kohli’s team to go for the jugular.”It (India having success in Australia and England) is something we’re obviously wary of. They’ve improved a lot with regards to their travelling record,” Elgar said, “I know Virat Kohli has emphasised on that kind of point – that they wanted to improve their record on the road. [We are] Extremely mindful of that; they have set themselves that standard. And I’m sure they’re going to try and fulfill it within this series.”And as much as I have the power of being the leader of this team, I’m going to try and prevent them from fulfilling that role or that dream of theirs. That makes an exciting and challenging series coming up for both teams. We know they’re going to come out firing; we’re extremely mindful of that as well. I’m pretty sure they know we’re also going to come out firing. Either way it’s going to be an extremely exciting Test series.”

WHAT HAPPENED?
The 2016 Euro Cup winners have already cemented their place at the top of their Nations League group with the 5-1 win over Poland on Friday. They will next face Croatia in their final group match on Monday. Ahead of the dead-rubber clash, manager Roberto Martinez has released four of his star players, Ronaldo, Pedro Neto, Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes.

THE EXPLANATION
While explaining his decision to let key players leave the squad midway into the international break, Martinez claimed that he wants to try out new players and give exposure to youngsters in their upcoming match. The news comes as a huge boost for Premier League giants Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, along with Al-Nassr who will now welcome their star performers back. While Silva, Neto and Ronaldo are being rested, Fernandes will primarily miss the game due to suspension which was slapped on him after picking up a yellow card against Poland.
WHAT ROBERTO MARTINEZ SAID
Speaking to reporters after the Poland clash, the former Everton boss said, "In the first stage, we made six changes from one game to the next. It's important for us to be first, and we already are. We need to be competitive to add to the group, it's getting harder and harder to get into the starting eleven. There's a World Cup finals in 18 months.
"The game against Croatia is important, we need to look at other players. We're going to let go of Bernardo Silva, Pedro Neto, Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, who is suspended. We're going to call up Fábio Silva and Quenda for the Under-21s."

WHAT NEXT FOR CRISTIANO RONALDO?
The 39-year-old, who scored a brace in Friday's win, will get a well-earned break before he returns to action for Al-Nassr against Al-Qadisiyah in the Saudi Pro League on November 22.

Everton have been heavily restricted as to what they can spend in recent transfer windows, following their recent financial situation which resulted in an eight-point deduction last season.
Sean Dyche’s side have desperately lacked investment, with the club needing to act in a sensible manner this window if they are to pull further clear of any looming relegation worries.
However, they may be handed an opportunity to sign some new talents to improve the squad, but at a cost with multiple first-team players potentially heading for the exit.
Amadou Onana looks the most likely to depart Goodison Park during the off-season, with the Belgian youngster one of the club’s most profitable stars, valued at around £60m amid interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Should he depart, it would undoubtedly leave a huge gaping hole in Everton’s midfield, but it would be short-lived, with the Toffees eyeing one player who could allow Dyche to forget about the 21-year-old.
Everton interested in international star this summer
According to Jeunes Footeux via Sport Witness, Everton are in the race to sign FC Metz’s Senegalese midfielder Lamine Camara this summer.
The 20-year-old, who made 31 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, also has admirers from Fulham and could make the move to the Premier League for a fee in the region of €10m (£8m).
The French side suffered relegation back to the French second tier, with the report claiming the Toffees could look to take advantage of the club’s decline to sign Camara for a cut-price during the off-season.
He’s produced some excellent stats in 2023/24 for Metz, Camara demonstrating talents that he is the perfect man to come in and replace Onana should he leave the club in the coming weeks.
Why Camara can allow Dyche to forget Onana
There’s no denying Onana has been an excellent servant for Everton since his £33m move to the club from Lille back in the summer of 2022.
Amadou Onana for Everton
He’s been a crucial cog in Dyche’s midfield, with his ball-winning abilities catching the eye, operating as the player tasked with breaking up the play in the middle of the park.
However, the Senegalese youngster, who’s been dubbed a “future icon” by talent scouts Jacek Kulig, has excelled despite his tender age, producing stats that are more impressive than the Belgian could manage.
Camara has averaged more combined goals and assists over the last 12 months, a tally that could potentially provide Dyche with an added goal threat, helping the Toffees improve their measly tally from the season just gone.

Despite Onana’s excellent qualities out of possession, he’s been outperformed by the Metz star, who’s won four more tackles than the Belgian whilst also managing seven more interceptions across a similar number of matches.
Camara performs well above his age, showcasing his calmness and ability to have a huge impact on the game from midfield – a quality that will only improve as he develops further in his already exciting career.
Whilst losing Onana may be a huge blow for the club, they have been presented with a perfect opportunity to sign the perfect replacement for a fraction of the price – in a deal that would hugely boost their current PSR position.
What Everton's starting XI could look like after £85m+ spending spree
The Toffees will be looking to strengthen this summer despite the looming PSR threats.
Success is seldom round the corner in football. While the jubilation of winning matches against arch-rivals provides ephemeral injections of endorphins, scorn at rivals' expense, how often does it actually count toward something lined in silver?
This is especially pertinent for the lion's share of the Premier League, living in the shadowed wake of Manchester City's domination under Pep Guardiola.
Liverpool? Liverpool have suffered, pulled and pained and pricked by the buffeting blows of near misses and 'what-ifs?', reaching illustrious heights under the lionised Jurgen Klopp but still yielding perpetual sporting glory to the all-conquering Citizens.
Liverpool players celebrate
Still, Liverpool have enjoyed more than most, winning the whole gamut under Klopp, who has now departed after nearly nine years. Arne Slot is his successor and will be hoping to lead Liverpool toward new, shiny heights, looking to upgrade Anfield's first team with some well-placed signings.
Where, exactly, is that primary position of concern? Liverpool are good at keeping their innermost transfer thoughts under wraps, with information gleaned so far suggesting that signing a central defender and wide forward is of the greatest importance.
A winger, in particular, has dominated Liverpool-focused transfer headlines over the past week.
Liverpool eyeing new wide forward
Last weekend, Liverpool rejected Newcastle United's proposal to exchange Jarell Quansah plus cash for winger Anthony Gordon, who was awarded the Magpies' Player of the Season award for 2023/24.
Gordon is a player that Liverpool admire, formerly of Everton and but a boyhood Red, but FSG believe they are well-stocked at left wing, and indeed, Liverpool aren't exactly short of options.

Fans might feel that to take a step forward under Slot, and claim some of that fleeting success mentioned above, an upgrade is needed somewhere in the attacking department, with Liverpool having toiled toward the end of Klopp's reign, spent of energy and lacking a killer instinct in the final third.
Diaz, in particular, is likely considered expendable in the minds of most of the Reds faithful; having been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent months, Liverpool would only entertain the indefatigable Colombian's sale if his £50m price tag is met.
Gordon, meanwhile, would only leave St. James' Park if Liverpool played to their £75m tune, having swerved PSR concerns – the ball, so to speak, is in Tyneside's court with that one.
This is a significant sum, but it wouldn't quite make him Liverpool's most expensive forward addition in history. That, instead, lies with Darwin Nunez.
Darwin Nunez's Liverpool career
He arrived with quite the glowing repute from his days in Portugal, off the back of a 34-goal campaign with SL Benfica that confirmed his status as one of Europe's most promising young forwards, scoring five goals in the Champions League against Bayern Munich, Barcelona and… Liverpool.
Darwin Nunez for Liverpool
And despite sealing the Community Shield off the bench on his debut with a last-gasp strike against Manchester City, Nunez only bagged 15 goals across all competitions and looked both threatening and toothless throughout a polarising term.
Still, having earned the moniker of Liverpool's "agent of chaos" – as relayed by writer Leanne Prescott – the Uruguay international has so much to bring to the table.
As per FBref, he ranks among the top 5% of centre-forwards across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for assists, the top 13% for shot-creating actions, the top 15% for progressive carries and the top 20% for tackles per 90.
While Nunez missed a staggering 27 big chances in the Premier League last season, scoring just 11 goals, he was excellent when taking the whole year into account, clinching 18 goals, 13 assists and playing an important part in the club's resurgence.
His unceasing output, unflappable mentality and unique approach to the centre-forward game have made the £140k-per-week talent an exciting commodity that still seems to hold the finest days within. In other words, Nunez has yet to tap into the full scope of his potential and he could veritably explode under Slot's tutelage next season.
His importance is reflected in his rising market value, despite his lofty signing fee and the continuing narrative that he's yet to reach his peak on Merseyside.
Darwin Nunez's market value in 2024
Gordon could bloom into one of the Premier League's leading forwards, especially if making the move back to his home city and plying his trade at Liverpool.
The England international scored 12 goals and added 11 assists across all competitions last term, earning praise for his "unbelievable" campaign from teammate Bruno Guimaraes.
£75m would make him one of Liverpool's most expensive players, but not the most expensive. That tag lies with Nunez, who joined in the summer of 2022 from Benfica, completing a transfer rising to a club-record £85m fee.
Despite the ebb and flow that has dictated the South American's first few years on English shores, his exploits have still seen him skyrocket into one of the most marketable and highly-valued players in the Premier League, with CIES Football Observatory's valuation model recording his current price at £95m, some £20m more than the mooted fee to sign Gordon.
Darwin Nunez against Atalanta
Sure, Nunez has been faced with his share of criticism since alighting in Liverpool for the first time (as a Liverpool player, that is) but he remains one of the most talented and influential forwards on the continent.
His exploits under Marcelo Bielsa at CONMEBOL Copa America denote his high-level quality, playing in a 4-2-3-1 system that bears a semblance to that of Slot's soon-to-be-inculcated brand.
Darwin Nunez scores for Liverpool
Notching 31 goal contributions across the 2023/24 campaign is hardly the mark of a poor striker. Can we, the Liverpool flock, not afford this superstar his foibles?
He's dipped his toes into the ascendancy over his first few years, now, under new management, he must take the plunge and live up to his mountainous potential.
His value has risen 1438%: Liverpool must axe £1m ace instead of Quansah
Arne Slot does not need this talent despite his value rising by 400%.
A £65 million striker would welcome joining Chelsea this summer, following the club's failed pursuit of RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko.

Fabrizio Romano says that the Blues, Arsenal and Man United all made proposals for the Slovenia international who bagged 18 goals in all competitions for Leipzig last season. His £55 million release clause was another enticing draw, as prolific goalscorers often come at a marquee premium.
“The first step has to be to inform RB Leipzig of his future at the club. Leipzig presented an important contract to Sesko to be the star of the squad with an improved salary and big money," said Romano on the Here we Go podcast last week (via football.london).
"He has to decide whether he wants to be the superstar of Leipzig for one more season or to leave in 2025. He has already said no to two big proposals for €30 million (£26 million) per season salary in Saudi Arabia, so he was not attracted by the possibility.

“He has three proposals from the Premier League – Manchester United, Chelsea & Arsenal – these three clubs have already approached Sesko and presented their project. They want him so now it's basically on the player.”
Fast-forward to now, and Sesko has made his decision. As shared by Romano again, Sesko has chosen to remain at Leipzig and will put pen to paper on an improved new contract with the Bundesliga side.
It is now back to the drawing board for Chelsea transfer chiefs, who still aim to bring in a prolific new forward. Mauricio Pochettino was heavily reliant on the likes of Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson for his goalscoring output last season, with Maresca looking to finally bring in a talismanic new option who can lead the line.
Chelsea are targeting Girona and Ukraine star Artem Dovbyk as a Sesko alternative, but they've now added one of their former stars to their transfer shortlist as well.
Dominic Solanke shortlisted and would welcome Chelsea move
As per GiveMeSport, the player in question is Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke – coming after he bagged 21 goals in all competitions last season.
Solanke would apparently welcome a return to Chelsea, and his contract includes a £65 million release clause which would allow Todd Boehly to bypass negotiations with Bournemouth.
The Englisman is one of many names they're considering, but Solanke has at least opened the door for Chelsea to approach him.
